Renovating/Demo Drop Ceiling

Here we go again...had to finish doorway and ran into a problem {yep of course}, had to cut away more of the wall to run new electrical cable from attic.

Well....Shadd said "since we're cutting and the house is already a mess we should do the demo of the drop ceiling NOW,I could use the space to put beam in abouve the doorway" {yea I was happy}...."yea sure, lets do that"!

WOW.....What a mess it turned out to be....drywall dust ALL OVER the whole house. Little white footprints everywhere! Reana,Sierra,Shadd,Me & my Mom had our work cut out for us.Someone fed the kids, entertained the kids, cleaned, cooked, took care of grandpa....until the wee hours of the morning. Shadd knew when to quit, not me. I think I got a total of two hours of sleep a night from friday to tuesday.Of course that didn't help my Mom,she could'nt sleep if I was awake.

I think I've rubbed of on my husband....at least I realized it this night. He just kept going...that Island that I said I wanted to get rid of EVENTUALLY, the one that I just wall-papered until we found or made a new one. Yea...he ripped it out! So, I honestly don't know if he liked the idea of getting or making a new one or just wanted to get this over with all at once?

My Mom finds it funny to watch us debate, plan something, argue ones point,in a deep discussion and through all these years we'd look over and there she is watching us. Awhh...you two are so cute,or you work good together, or smile...I want to take a picture of you {seriously mom, Im debating here}?

Another Lowe's Trip:

Wall paper.......the little people joined in to help throughout the weekend, whenever it suited there interest or if they were asked. They all did really well and we actually had a good time.

Wall Repair will come later....made hole in drywall a little recipe/cooking nook for now! Canned goods,Jams & Jellies this Summer. Yummo...
Doorway is trimmed out {Shadd and Sierra walking through it}yea!
Ceiling is painted, back wall touched up with paint. Ceiling feels alot higher, but doesn't seem like it in this photo.o'well, done for a little while. Happy Birthday Sierra {thanks for all of your help}!

Now...I start my search for the new Island.....I highly recommend having a HUGE one if you have children. I've found myself going to place things on it? Make cookies etc...

Today...I miss you!

You're my Friend
{at sunset I kissed your cheek and prayed}

You're my Elder
I RESPECT you
You're WISE beyond my years
Life is taking it's TOLL
And you rely on me
I am your VOICE
On a daily basis you listen to my
Trials & Tribulations in life.
You're my EARS
So I too NEED YOU
Yesterday...
I was not greeted with your SMILE
I "FROZE"
I called on those who hold you DEAR
"PROMPTLY" they were at your side
You're LOVED
SILENCE
today I await your arrival
It's too QUITE
Who needs who?
I ask myself over & over again.
Today....I Miss you!
....You're my FRIEND

Sierra's 15th Birthday

Sierra adores Justin Bieber. His favorite color is purple, hers blue {Blur`pal}. So being a teen and Justin being her early life-time crush. I thought it would be a perfect fit to decorate with a little of him & there colors for her birthday dinner. Her fave "Chili-Cheese-Fries" not his fave {Spagetti}.

After ~ Our Anniversary

I am soooo ready for SPRING!...there is smile on my face every morning I go to make coffee and there is a beam of morning light coming across the fridge and onto my coffee pot. I Love it.....not the farm yet....BUT, we'll get there. We just have to work really hard and make our Dream a reality!

Aubrie helped Shadd pick out this really Pretty Paintable Paisley Wallpaper {also at Lowe's} to wallpaper over this fake wood wallpaper....who would do that? House was built in the 70's.
Yes...I still have more painting to do.

Oh...P.S...were still working on the doorway!
Looking for some pretty, swinging, frenchy looking shutters {smile} more JUNK!

Now...I just have to get some hardwood flooring, DIY concrete countertops {that's gonna be fun}, Look for an old funky dresser to be my new island. But, as Shadd say's were trying to save money so we can move.......What is a girl to do?

Our Anniversary

We've always celebrated our anninversary with a traditional gift. Its "FUN"....every year we look up what it is that we basically have to search or hunt down. Copper? Cotton? {I wrapped his whole present that year in cotton candy mmmm}! We also alternate years, so that one of us is not always doing the planning. Last year was his {Pottery or weeping Willow} so he planned a date to a pottery place where he and I made a piece of pottery and yes...we painted a weeping willow on it.

This year was Aluminum or Tin.....and of course my year to plan!! Ha-Ha...Poor guy! He agreed, but all-in-all ended up being way more than he ever anticipated. Technically paint comes in a Tin Can, and he purchase some sand paper that read Aluminum on it...so there we go!

Sanding the kitchen cabinets is what took up most of the time, almost two day's just on the kitchen.

We have a stainless steel fridge that I've been wanting in the house for over a year now. Never had time to rip out the cabinets to fit it in....until now.

While we were at it...I said could you PLEASE....cut a hole in this wall it would be wonderful to have some light come into the kitchen in the morning. He wasn't to keen on the work that would have to go into it. Considering it's a LOAD bearing wall and he would have to re-wire the electricity {running into yet another weekend when I only asked for three days}...but he smiled and said ok.....I agree that will look nice and bring in some light.

So we headed back to Lowe's to get some primer for the benches. Running out of time and our hands were killing after day 3. I turned out well......very sticky!

Initially didn't want to sand in the house so Shadd went back to Lowe's and got this Stripper. It burns really bad,one of the kids rubbed there toe on it and needed to strip down to take a bath. Sierra and Shadd too...said it burned. Then when we went to sand it,it gummed up and wasted alot of sand paper. It didn't bubble and wasn't easy to scrape like the directions said, so we won't use this again.

"OLD FASHIONED" hard work is what it took....sanding!!
