Decorating our Tree

This has been a really fun year for me as far as all of the little ones (Aubrie,Aiden and Cody) acknowledging what the holidays are all about and participating with HUGE smiles! I love this age where they're so eager to help to see what the finished product will be and try to stay up with me (sleepy heavy eyes) to see what it is that we're going to do next....Happy Holidays my sweet little ones!

Note: Aiden's wound on eyebrow and lower lip....Dog attacked him trying to get the last bite of his icecream cone.Never ends with boy's I tell you.....

Our "Tree"

As with every year since all of our children have been old enough to run....the Christmas Tree Farm has been a place of wonderful playful laughter, they think it's the funnest thing to play Hide~n~seek underneath and behind all of the Christmas tree's.This year as Shadd and I were trying to find the perfect tree (he holds it,turns it around and then climbs in piles to find what we think will be fun and fitting that year) we looked down and realized this little one wasn't able to keep up with the rest in the game of hide~n~seek....This her her first year to try to take all of the holidays in,as she watched us wondering why we were out in the cold holding trees.......love you Sweet Pea

"My poor little Bear"

Cody fast asleep after his surgery, yet again. Tubes placed again as well as his Adnoids removed.Waiting patienly for him to get the much needed rest his body deserved. Shadd or myself would crawl in the bed and sleep with him for a total of a few hours.Stayed almost the whole day to make sure he could eat properly (hold it down without throwing up,which he did)go to the bathroom, eat jello etc...when the nurse asked Cody if he was ready to go, only then did she have me sign the release form and we went home, for a wonderful "LONG" 7 day recovery in the house with ALL the kids (rainy day schedule).....Happy to say my little bear is recovering very well.Lot's of energy as usual

Note to self:

......"DON'T" take Cody Christmas shopping with you.You think he's not paying attention to any thing you're doing, while he is quitely entertaining himself with a motorcycle on the floor of the store.Until you get out of the store that is and out to the car, then he begins to ask you for each and every item you purchased for him. Whatever with child number 6 I'll choose my battles give him his jacket, scarf, gloves and beanie which was much needed this season anyway! Then I will proceed to shop another time, without Cody...........

Thanksgiving Turkey Brine

Ingredients
6 quarts tap water
1 pound kosher salt
1 cup molasses
2 cups honey
1 cup soy sauce
1 tablespoon dried red pepper flakes
1 tablespoon dried sage
Large bunch fresh thyme
2 heads garlic broken into individual cloves, unpeeled
5 pounds ice cubes
14 to 18-pound turkey, cleaned, innards removed
1 pound unsalted butter, softened
2 lemons, zested
Directions
In a medium pot, bring 3 quarts of the tap water to a boil over medium heat. Put the kosher salt in a large bowl and slowly (and carefully!) pour the boiling water over the salt. Stir to blend.

Add the molasses, honey, soy sauce, red pepper flakes, sage, thyme and garlic to the salt and water mixture. Stir to blend. Add the remaining 3 quarts of cool water. Add the ice to a cooler or bucket large enough to hold the brine and the turkey. Pour the brine over the ice and use a large whisk to blend all of the ingredients.

Submerge the turkey, breast side down, in the brine. Make sure the cavity of the bird fills with the liquid as you are submerging it. Cover the cooler and allow the bird to sit in the brine overnight or for about 12 hours.

Remove the bird from the brine and dry it thoroughly with thick (absorbent) kitchen towels. Take care to wipe inside the cavity as well. Discard the brine. Whisk together the butter and the lemon zest. Gently lift the skin covering 1 breast of the turkey and spread half of the butter right on the meat under the skin. Repeat with the other breast. The butter will add extra moisture and richness as the bird roasts.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Arrange the turkey in a roasting pan fitted with a rack. Put on the lower rack of the oven and roast until the internal temperature of the turkey taken from the thickest part of the thigh reads 170 degrees F on an instant-read thermometer, about 3 1/2 hours. Remove the turkey from the oven to a cutting board or serving platter and tent with foil. Allow to rest for 15 minutes before carving and serving.

Aubrie~Tetanus?

Today Aubrie stepped on a pin that had fallen off of her outfit just last night.I would'nt normally be as concerned about tetanus, due to the fact that it was clean for the most part and had no visible signs of rust what so ever."BUT",she had been playing in the back yard all morning with bare feet{obviously} and of course we have chickens! Which raised a huge concern for me....Not prepared to wait in the Emergency room for another 7 hours today {fainting visit},Flu,Vaccines and E.N.T visits this month have been overwhlelming. How many antibiotics are they going to consume in one month? So instead with prayer in my heart and gods own antibiotic {garlic}.I pray his healing hand watches over Aubrie........"MUST READ"Another mothers answer!

happens to be an Angel

Our garlic

We placed some garlic and oils under her bandage to penetrate skin for a longer period than she would allow me to hold it on...

Cody bear is always concerned with how his sister is doing or feeling,he was a Big Helper! Thank you my little bear...........

Palm springs & hot

Spent the day with family in palm springs today. Wonderful to see the baby, not so great for the goodbye! Uncle Sloan leaves for his training in the morning for his tour in Iraq. Can't wait until he's home again. Cody is in love with every bit of what his grandma has to offer. She bakes and he so looks forward to it. She swims with him in the pool and he is so eager to show her all of his new tricks. Amanda allans girlfriend spent the day with us and all were happy to have her, who wouldn't be she is a blessing in anyone life she touches so sweet and caring! Aubrie gave every one a kiss goodbye tonight, she is definantley growing into herself. Xoxo's
